Swimming with the Dolphins in Cabo
Alyssa Quirico
Cabo San Lucas is now offering you a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to soar through the water on the back of a Dolphin.
Cabo Dolphins, located at Lot 7 on the marina, offers expertly
engineered ten-foot deep salt water pools, where these fun
and friendly Bottlenose dolphins are free to swim around
and play with each other in a safe and secure environment.
I
was lucky enough to have the opportunity to participate
in this activity. I was so excited, since I had never done
this before. After getting suited up, I, along with the
rest of my group of about 7 people, was educated by a professional
instructor to create a deeper understanding about the dolphins
and a more personal relationship. Then the adventure began.
First we got acquainted with our dolphin, Frida, through
soft pets and hugs. We were then taught three different
tricks: a kiss, a handshake, and finally an exciting ride
with Frida, while hanging onto her dorsal fin. At the end
of the class everyone went into the water for a free swim
with our dolphin. It was amazing seeing her soft, smooth
body swerve in an out of the water around us. I felt so
close to her. Throughout the entire time, a professional
photographer catches these beautiful moments on camera.
These photos are available to buy at the end of the class
downstairs in the lobby. Food, drinks, and a collection
of souvenirs are also available for purchase.
This safe and fun experience is available for all people
above the age of five at a cost of $165 a person. You can
make reservations personally or through your hotel. Turning
dreams into reality, Cabo Dolphins promises to provide you
with an experience you will never, ever forget. I know I
never will.
