On occasion, Spotted Eagle and Bat Rays
will glide effortlessly in the distance. When in season,
it is common to witness Humpback, Grey, Sperm and Blue
Whales in the Los Cabos area. The Cabo San Lucas Marine
Preserve and the surrounding area supply a breath-taking
diversity of aquatic life. Jacques Cousteau himself described
the Sea of Cortez as, "one of the richest seas of
the world."
Scuba
diving here is year-round. Visibility can extend beyond
80' in the summer and fall with water temperatures in
the upper 70s to 80s measured in degrees Fahrenheit. The
winter months bring colder waters, but a greater abundance
of marine mammals. Visibility year-round is never less
than 30', with an exception being the occasional Plankton
bloom. In Cabo San Lucas, diving two tanks requires only
a 3-4 hour commitment and provides all the splendor of
any near-by location.
No van rides are required; dozens of restaurants,
swimming beaches and all of Cabo San Lucas are at your
fingertips when your diving is completed. The Sea Lion
Colonies thrive, Dolphins cruise the bay and when in season
Whales can be found almost every day. We invite you experience
the magical underwater realm of Los Cabos.
In
additional to the local Cabo sites, all-day expeditions
to remote diving destinations across Southern Baja. Cabo
Pulmo, Gordo Banks and La Paz are known for excellent
scuba diving. Cabo Pulmo and La Paz can be accessed by
a two hour drive from Cabo San Lucas. Scuba diving in
Cabo Pulmo provides a living rocky-reef system with large
numbers of marine mammals and schooling fish. Conditions
at Cabo Pulmo change rapidly, so we suggest a local guide
and driver.
Isla Espiritu Santos, outside La Paz, is
home to Baja's only true living, hard coral reef. This
location is accessible year-round. The highlight of the
expedition is the opportunity to swim with Whale Sharks
and dive shipwrecks in La Paz Bay.
Gordo
Banks is one and one half to two hours from Cabo San Lucas
by boat or one hour by car, and can yield schools of Hammerheads,
Whale Sharks and Mantas. This is an advanced, blue water
dive. Currents are strong and the Sea Mounts are deep.
